Manually Typing PHP Code Is Altered Incorrectly

Expected behavior

Manually typing php code to include top navbar.

Actual behavior

In code or split views, once you start typing <?p immediately the code below begins to eliminate the < and then the />'s off of several lines. Then it deletes all the closing div tags below.

I think the video – though short – shows the odd behavior as I try to type the code manually.
