Autocomplete that will add record if not found

Hi All,

I’m developing a booking system. One of the text fields to create a booking is a customer name (full name, not firstname/surname). Id like the auto complete to return an existing customer that’s been using the booking system in the past OR allow input of a new customer if its their first time. So far I can only get the autocomplete to list existing customers but now allow input of a new customer.

Has anyone out there done this before…? I’ve looked around here quite a bit and cant seem to find anything.
