Timeout - NodeJS - API (Server Action)

Hey Guys,

How or what is the proper steps to setup a timeout for a larger API (server action) call?

Do we simply setup timeouts for each step that may cause a lag? OR an overall timeout?

How would one go about setting something like this up?
