UI becomes unresponsive after editing elements in visual designer (video included)

What do you think should happen?

I should be able to visually edit elements without issue.

See video below. This happens constantly. So much so that I end up doing most of my editing in split view in the code editor.

You can see two things happen. First issue is that suddenly I cannot select elements correctly, it starts just highlighting them instead of editing. Then after a couple of refreshes / changes it becomes totally unresponsive.
