Is this supposed to show the page immediately before the current page?

I have put this into an include which is on every page but it only shows the first/original page that I came from and shows that same page as I navigate through the site, rather than showing the previous page to the one I’m on.
Current set-up : SPA Pages, Windows 10, MySQL, PHP
