Database suggestions for a beginner

Hi there,

I’m pretty new here, but I’ve been playing around with Wappler and I’m quite enjoying it. There’s lots of learning still to be had, but that comes with time and practice.

Anyway - My question is regarding databases. I’d like to connect a database so I can use test data and get a handle on how it all works. I’ve looked into, and attempted, to install Docker as this seems like the simplest approach, but it appears that my CPU doesn’t support Hyper-V fully. So that’s out of the question.

I wondered if anybody could suggest some ‘newbie-friendly’ databases. I’d be looking for something that wouldn’t cost anything at testing/development stage, but could be scaled if required. I would rather spend a bit more time learning a product that was sustainable than grow out of a niche beginner product that I have to move from if I wished to scale.

I hope this makes sense! Suggestions welcome.

Edit 06/11/20 - Digital Ocean doesn’t seem to provide a free option.

Thanks,
Jon
