Node.js: Templating vs SPA

I have built myself a Node.js Sandbox web app that I can play with Node locally.

1. Which is the best way to go? Templating or SPA?
2. What are the advantages and disadvantages of each?
3. When you first set up a Node site is it already using one of the above methods?
