Upload and crop image

Hi, I am using the image crop facility and its working fine locally but not when i upload my cms to the live server

The image is being saved fine on the server using the “crop_{name}{ext}” template its just not cropping to the correct dimensions (500x375) - this works fine locally

Are there any specific php settings on the server i need for the crop to work correctly?
